Our Story

Ever since I was a young girl, I loved spending time with my Grandma and great Aunts. I would listen quietly as they shared stories of growing up in "Sugar Hollow" and their simple way of life. Living through the Great Depression taught them to be creative with what little they were given. I believe this is when my love for primitives and the"make-do" style was born. Grandma would give me scraps of fabric and old buttons and I would sit and create. She often said that I could make "a silk purse from a sow's ear".  She always believed in me and my passion for all things old and early.  In 1989, I opened a little craft store with my sister-in-law. We sold wreaths and florals and all sorts of gifts. What started in a 200 square foot space quickly grew to a full service Florist and Gift Shop which served the community for 23 years. Once the brick and Mortar store closed, I took a much needed break. But what I soon learned was that crafting, painting, sewing and making, is who I am. God had given me these gifts and talents for a reason. Together, my husband and I are working to "build" our Primitive Store. And this time, we are staying true to what we loved most...Primitives. Grungy. Old. Rusty. Worn. Today, our joy is in offering American Made items which embrace the craftsmanship of days gone. We enjoy making reproduction pieces finished with milk paint and authentic colors from the early days. Our greatest sense of accomplishment is when customers ask, "whose old barn did that shelf came out of." Likewise, our desire to make home decor shopping quick and easy, encouraged us to branch out into rugs, curtains and accents. All to make your house a Primitive Home...all in one stop, all in one shop.
We thank you for browsing through our store. If you didn't find exactly what you are looking for, let us know. We welcome custom orders.
